Graphics Cards
I needed a place to store stuff I've discovered about 3d graphic cards under Linux. I get a lot of hits on google for "best video card for Linux", but they all seem to be from the year 2000. Hopefully this will stay a bit more updated.
Current Choice:
In April 2006 I was given a GeForce FX 5200 (thanks Robbie), and I have to say I am impressed. GLX with TwinView means accelerated OpenGL on both heads, and that makes me a happy boy. Even though my kernel is now "tainted" by a closed binary module, I was very impressed by how easy it was to install. This also gave me a chance to try out Kororaa with Xgl. All I can say is WOW. This is very cool eye candy, and I this may just drag me away from my fluxbox desktop.

A fairly recent review of 3d cards under Linux. They spend quite a bit of time bitching about how hard it is to setup, but do give good benchmark numbers.
I can't say I always agree with Tom, but this is a useful chart for deciphering all the crazy model numbers. What kinda crack are these marketing folks smoking, Pro, Ultra, SE, LE, XT, etc. Just tell me the fscking clock speed already.
Arstechnica Shopping Engine - Graphic Card
Ars already kicks ass for the system guide, but they have ousted Price Watch on my bookmark list as the place I go to find the best price on hardware.
